The SUNSUN CUV-209 is a UV-C pond clarifier that limits free-floating algae, bacteria and other microorganisms associated with cloudy or green water. This 9 W lamp model is intended for ponds up to 8 000 L, or up to 3 000 L when keeping koi.

Water treatment within the filtration system

UV-C radiation acts inside the unit as water flows through it. It damages algae cells and encourages them to form larger clusters that a mechanical filter can capture. The treatment does not require added chemicals. Initial results from regular operation may be visible after about 14 days.

Connections and installation

Water flow: the recommended flow rate is 1 500 L/h and the maximum operating pressure is 0.3 bar.
Hose fit: stepped connections range from 3/4" to 1 1/2", approximately 19–38 mm.
Layout: the symmetrical design allows either port to act as the inlet or outlet, and the unit can be wall-mounted.
Power: 220–240 V / 50 Hz supply, 12 W power consumption and a 5 m power cord.

An internal flow guide prolongs water contact with the UV-C lamp. The housing is made from ABS and ASA plastics, and the operating water temperature range is 4–35 °C.

Is this clarifier suitable for a koi pond?

Yes. For koi ponds, the recommended maximum volume is 3 000 L. For other ponds, the stated maximum capacity is 8 000 L.

Does the UV-C lamp replace a mechanical filter?

UV-C treatment encourages algae to form larger clusters. These are then captured by a mechanical filter, so the lamp does not replace mechanical filtration.
