The Yongnuo YN650EX-RF is an on-camera speedlite flash engineered for Canon cameras. It features an oval-shaped flash head, integrated LED modeling lamps, TTL automation, and a built-in radio triggering system.
Oval Flash Head and Modeling LEDs
The oval reflector design delivers smoother light distribution and softer edge transitions than conventional rectangular flash heads. Surrounding the flash tube are 24 LEDs delivering approximately 2 W at 5600 K, functioning as a modeling light for previewing lighting setups or as a continuous light source during video recording.
Wireless Triggering and High-Speed Sync
With support for High-Speed Sync (HSS) up to 1/8000 s and first- or second-curtain shutter synchronization, the flash adapts to diverse lighting scenarios. Its built-in 2.4 GHz RF radio transceiver provides wireless triggering at distances up to 100 m in both master and slave modes, complemented by optical triggering (10–25 m) and a PC sync port.
Power, Zoom, and Operation
The speedlite delivers a guide number of GN 60 (ISO 100, 200 mm) with an electronic motorized zoom covering 28–200 mm. Powered by 4 AA batteries, it achieves full-power recycling in approximately 2 seconds and can be linked to an external battery pack. Operational settings are shown on a backlit negative LCD screen, and firmware updates are supported via micro USB.
