How to measure blood pressure correctly
- Sit comfortably with your back supported and arms resting on a table.
- Avoid caffeine and smoking for 30 minutes before measurement.
- Take measurements at the same time each day.
- Repeat each measurement 3 times and calculate the average.
- Wait 1 minute between measurements.
- Record your results daily.
Normal values
Normal blood pressure: 100–139/60–89 mmHg. Ideal: 120/80 mmHg.
- Systolic pressure – the higher value, when the heart contracts.
- Diastolic pressure – the lower value, when the heart relaxes.
