The Purlov retractable dog lead is designed for dogs weighing up to 15 kg. Its fabric tape extends to 5 m, while the retraction and locking mechanism lets you control the distance your dog can move.

Handling and attachment

Handle: an ergonomic shape and non-slip surface for one-handed operation.
Lock: slide the button towards you and press it down to stop the tape moving.
Attachment: a chrome-plated metal clip connects to a collar or harness.

Limits and safety

Before each use, check that the retraction and locking mechanisms work smoothly without resistance. Hold the handle firmly and never let go, even if your dog suddenly runs: a sharp pull can dislodge the handle, cause loss of control and endanger the dog or others.

Do not wrap the tape around hands, fingers or other body parts, as a sudden pull can cause cuts or abrasions. Take care at full extension: an abrupt stop can injure the dog or handler. If the mechanism jams or develops another fault, lock the lead, bring the dog closer and check the cause; do not force the tape to retract.

Regularly check for frayed tape, play in the mechanism, cracks in the housing and dirt. Keep the tape clean and dry. Do not use the lead if damaged or malfunctioning. It is not suitable for situations requiring rapid, immediate correction of the dog's behaviour.
